On August 30th the possibility to file opposition proceedings against Mexican trademark applications will enter into force in MEXICO. The opposition proceedings will be similar to the Spanish system with the automatic granting of an opposition period beginning after the publication of the Mexican trademark applications. Consequently, the possibility to file oppositions avoids entering into lengthy and expensive cancellation proceedings against the Mexican trademark applications, which until now were the only possibility to oppose the registration of a Mexican trademark application.
